In association with the Department of Pediatrics, LTMG Hospital and the Association of the Hospital & Practicing Biochemist and Medical Technologists (AHPBMT), Think Foundation had co hosted a Workshop for Laboratory Personnel along with the Mumbai Thalassaemic Society and the We Care Trust.

The objective of the Workshop was to sensitize Laboratories to the problem of Thalassaemia so as to ensure that a closer look is given to the Complete Blood Count (CBC) Report, and the relevant persons are advised to get screened for Thalassaemia Minor. The Workshop involved the following presentations :

1. ‘ABC of CBC’ - by Dr. Mamta Manglani, Head of the Dept. of Pediatrics, LTMG Hospital
2. 'Diagnosis of Thalassaemia Major’ - by Dr. M.R. Lokeshwar, Consultant Pediatrician & Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist, Lilavati Hospital & Shushrusha Hospital
3. 'Management of Thalassaemia Major’ – by Dr. Ratna Sharma,
4. ‘Why should one know about Thalassaemia’ – by Mr. Vinay Shetty, Vice President, Think Foundation

The Workshop, which was supported by the State Blood Transfusion Council, was attended by almost 200 laboratory personnel.

At the request of the AHPBMT Think Foundation in association with the Dept. of Pediatrics, L.T.M.G. Hospital plans to organize a large number of smaller, focused workshops.
