Think Foundation had assisted the State Blood Transfusion Council in setting up a committee of doctors, NGOs, and Government Organizations in the health sector to look into the area of providing ‘disability status’ to thalassaemic children.

The committee submitted its recommendations to the State Blood Transfusion Council, which in turn has been submitted to the Health Minister, Maharashtra. Once these recommendations are acted upon, we expect to be able to provide relief to children living with Thalassaemia major by way of travel concessions, admissions in colleges, job opportunities, Income Tax benefits to the family etc.
